Flextor

General Information

Effox-Flextor offers a complete line of heavy-duty guillotine dampers to meet your requirements. Designs available from Effox-Flextor include; Open-bonnet, Enclosed bonnet, and 100% isolation with seal-air fans.

Guillotine dampers are used when tight shut-off is required to isolate specific portions of a flue gas system for maintenance or by-pass purposes. For example, isolation of a boiler or an FGD system.

Effox-Flextor has supplied guillotine dampers in the largest ducting sizes in the industry. Our zero-leakage designs have been air tested as high as 3 PSI and hydro tested at 60 PSI for structural integrity. Effox-Flextor guillotine dampers can be found in some of the most demanding environments such as in high-dust loading cement plants, high corrosion in coal-fired power plants, and power boiler isolation

Chain Drive Design

For large heavy-duty slide gate applications where robustness and reliability are required, Effox-Flextor offers a chain drive design. Advantages of the chain drive system are ease of replacement of the drive system and reliability of operation.

Our designs are the most robust in the industry. We use the following minimum safety factors:

• 300% safety factor on drive sizing
• 200% safety factor on seal air volume at a minimum of +3 inches of water gauge above system pressure
• Maximum 60% yield stress on all components

Rack & Pinion Design

At the heart of the Effox-Flextor Rack & Pinion design is a proven and robust FlexRak™ systems which offers the advantage of being self-cleaning. Oversize motors and precise seat materials ensure a reliable and smooth operation.

Our designs are the most robust in the industry. We use the following minimum safety factors:

• 200% safety factor on seal air volume at a minimum of +3 inches of water gauge above system pressure
• Maximum 60% yield stress on all components

Blade and Seating arrangemens

Effox-Flextor guillotine dampers provide one of the most reliable and gas tight shut-offs in the industry. Using FlexTite™ high flexibility seating arrangements we can provide very tight shut-off, as much as 99.9 percent of flow, without the use of seal air fans.

Our design includes features such as seals out of gas stream and blades that penetrates the damper housing creating minimum flow leakage.

Seal Air systems

Effox-Flextor offers both open bonnet and closed bonnet guillotine damper designs.

For critical applications, Effox-Flextor has proven designs which use seal air fans and pressurized seals. Total isolation on even very high temperature applications can be achieved while minimizing seal-air fan sizes. On-going operating costs of your system are minimized since the FlexTite™ design only requires that seal-air fans be operated when the guillotine blade is in closed position.

Modular design for shipment

For easy shipment, all Effox-Flextor dampers are designed to be shipped in compact modules. All our dampers are fully assembled and tested in our facility, and then dis-assembled for shipment when required.
