Rectangular Metallic Joints

Although the trend in recent years has been towards non-metallic joints, metallic joints still fulfill needs which are beyond the capabilities of non-metallic joints. Typical design benefits for metallic joints include:

  • High Pressure Capability
  • High Temperature Capability

Metallic joints derive their flexibility from the number and height of the convolutions which comprise the bellow.  The corrugated nature of the bellow gives it spring-like flexibility.

The bellow section is generally made of stainless steel; however, other materials can be utilized depending on the design conditions. The bellows material is properly selected for adequate corrosion resistance and reliable performance at elevated temperatures
